Ronald Joseph Verlander, Jr. 59, of Alpharetta, Georgia went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 13, 2014. He was known as Ronnie to his friends and family. He was residing in Chattanooga, TN, but spent last 30 years living in Alpharetta/Woodstock area In Georgia. He was born in New York on December 22, 1954 to the late Ronald Joseph Verlander, Sr. and Lois Fay Umfress Verlander, but was raised and attended school in New Orleans, LA. He graduated High School from Brother Martin in New Orleans, LA in 1972. He attended University of Colorado in Boulder. Ron was an incredible salesman, artist and musician. He loved to ski but most of all he loved to skydive. He had a very adventurous soul. He said many times he was living his life “wide open”. Ron loved his children and family deeply. He had a huge heart and never gave up hope on those he loved. He was very active in his church and loved his Lord. He was very proud of his affiliation with Tendercare Beds, and his FreeFall Sportswear Company, devoted to his love of skydiving. Ron loved music. He could play guitar and piano and wrote his own music as well. He spent most of his free time working with people who were addicted to alcohol and those affected by alcohol. He was involved in prison ministry and ministry to all those who battled with addiction.
He is survived by three children, Linc Verlander (Kirsten), Tyler Fay Verlander and Mitchell Verlander; Mother, Lois Verlander. He has four siblings Brian (Debbie) Verlander, Sharon (Scott) Helms, Greg (Susan) Verlander and Carol Verlander Little. His nieces and nephews are Joshua Horton, Michelle Verlander, Matthew Verlander, Cory Helms, Kelli Helms, Cameron Verlander, Callyne Verlander, Andrew Little, and Alexandra Little.
Preceded in death by his father, Ronald Verlander Sr.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Verlander, Linc Verlander, Brian Verlander, Greg Verlander, Scott Helms, Josh Horton, Mark Mouton, and Gary Glueck.
