Mr. Joseph Robert “Bobby” Holliday Jr., age 70, of Hamilton, Alabama, formerly of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, July 1st, 2014, at his residence.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday July 2nd, 2014, at the Otts Funeral Home, Sulligent, Alabama. Funeral service, 2:00 p. m., Thursday July 3rd, 2014, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic graveside services and burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery – Gilmer Addition. Bro. Todd Clippard and Rebel Silas, officiating. Pallbearers, Glenn Hogue, Rebel Silas, David Logan, Harold Taylor, Barron Wiginton McDavid Franks and Sonny Nix. Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Loden, Bill Loden, Wyatt Howell, Austin Adkins, Billy Tyra, Nelson Vinson, Randy Sanderson, Phil Seagraves and Mitch Price.

“Bobby” is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Flippo Holliday, Hamilton, AL.; 1 son, Joseph Robert Holliday, III (Lana), Hamilton, AL.; 2 grandsons, Joseph Reid Holliday and Robert Blake Holliday; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and friends.

Joseph Robert “Bobby” Holiday, Jr., age 70, better known as “Bobby” to his family and friends, and a wonderful “Poppy” to his grandsons, passed away July 1st, 2014, at his home in Hamilton, Alabama.

Bobby was born February 26th, 1944, in Fayette County, Alabama, to the late Joseph Robert “Joe Bob” and Elsie Holliday. He was a 1962 graduate of Sulligent High School and furthered his education by attending the University of Alabama, where he received a degree in Marketing and Finance. Bobby also attended The Cumberland School of Law, and served in the Army National Guard.
Bobby retired from Alabama Power after 39 1/2 years. He later served 3 years as Mayor of The City of Hamilton, where he worked diligently for the betterment of the community so that everyone would love to live in Hamilton and call it their home. Bobby was a member of The Board of Directors of Community Bank and Cadence Bank in Hamilton. He was one of the original members who was responsible for getting the Community Development Foundation organized. He was also a member of other various clubs and organizations.
