Mr. Joe William Sims, age 73 of Hartselle died Saturday April 19, 2014.
His funeral will be Monday April 21, 2014 at 1:00pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Hal Daigre officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in
Forrest Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday April 21, 2014 from 11am-1pm
at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Sims was born January 15, 1941 in Morgan County to William Cargal Sims and Virginia Inez Johnson Sims.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife- Susan Mary Puckett Sims, of Hartselle.
2 Sons- David W. Sims(Debbie) of Hartselle, Al. John F. Sims(Susie) of Haleyville, Al.
1 Brother- Don A. Sims(Jeannie) of Paris, Tn.
4 Grandchildren-Jonathan Croley and Mary Grace Sims of Hartselle, Al.
Will Sims And David A. Sims of Haleyville, Al.
Pallbearers will be-Shane McGregor, Bob Pettit, Jim Webster, Greg Sivley, Randall Key andAnthony Shaneyfelt.
Honorary Pallbearers will be- Bobby Webster, Bobby Blankenship, Kenneth Owens, Leon Blankenship, Charles “Shorty” Lane, Roy Mitchell, John Ferguson and Truman Bridges.
Mr. Sims was a member of First Independent Methodist Church, Flint, Al. where he was a Sunday School teacher.
He was a United States Army Veteran, Cubmaster for Pack 92 Hartselle, longtime assistant Scoutmaster Troop 336 Hartselle.
He handcrafted and restored musical instruments.
He was a graduate of Florence State College and Morgan County High School.
He loved his family and community.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Hospice of the Valley.
