Routine Traffic Stop nets Drugs

decatur  aDECATUR-A routine traffic stop turned into a drug bust for the Decatur Police Department.  Here is a synopsis of the offenses charged and the arrest as told by the Decatur Police Department:

SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:

“On March 6, 2014 Officers Simmons and Morehead with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division initiated a vehicle stop for a moving violation (running a stop sign). Officers Simmons and Morehead made contact with the driver and identified him as Tommy Nicholas. Officer Holmes arrived on scene.

It was determined Nicholas had a revoked drivers license. After further investigation, Officers located a quantity of crack cocaine.Nicholas was placed under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While Revoked, and Running a Stop Sign.

Nicholas was transported to Decatur City Jail where he was booked and processed.

Nicholas was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,500.00 bond.”
