Peggy Ann Bates, 59, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born March 10, 1954, to Malcolm and Bessie Mae Anderson Mitchell. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Amory. She had been working at Wal-Mart in Fulton for over 22 years. She loved her job and her Wal-Mart family. She loved her animals and spending time with her family.
Services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday, February 9, at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Loyd Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery. McNeece – Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Roy K. Bates of Mantachie; her mother, Bessie Mae Mitchell, of Amory; her mother-in-law, Fairy Nell Bates of Fulton; two daughters, Candy Sheffield (Mark) of Ballardsville and Ginger Huguley (Keith) of Mantachie; one step-son, Jason Eric Bates (Lindsey) of Hernando; two brothers, James Mitchell (Doris) of Amory and Ralph Mitchell (Shelby Jean) of Smithville; one sister, Bonnie Sue Tate (James Roy) of Amory; one sister-in-law, Julie Bates of Fulton; four grandchildren, Sierra Arnold (Alex), Zachary Sheffield (fiancee Emily) , Sommer Huguley (fiance C.M.), and Austin Huguley; four great-grandchildren, Laken Sheffield, Christopher Arnold, Tori Garza, and Colton Arnold.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles R. Taylor II; one grandson, Scottie Ray Gray II; and her father.
Pallbearers will be Mark Sheffield, Keith Huguley, Alex Arnold, Jason Bates, Austin Huguley, and C.M. Young.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Saturday, February 8, at McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
