Jerry Gilbert Drake, 67, of Hazel Green passed away Thursday. Jerry was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. He was retired as a Maintenance Supervisor with the City of Huntsville and was an avid farmer. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who never met a stranger. Jerry was preceded in death by an infant son: Danny Wayne Drake.
Survivors include his loving wife: Barbara Ann Drake; one son: Bradford Drake and wife Christy; his daughter: Suzanne Giles and husband Clay; one brother: Tommy Drake; three sisters: Carol “Bonnie” Sanders, Mary Jane Drake and Rebecca Ann Drake and five grandchildren: Kristen “Little Bay” Giles, Callie “Bay 2” Giles, Nathan “Hardhead” Giles, Colton “Little Codger” Drake and Carley “Little Belle” Drake.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by a Chapel service Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Steve Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Green Valley Cemetery in Big Cove.
