Sadie V. Burden Pate went to join loved ones on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. She was born on Oct. 1, 1931 in Loosier Community. She ran away and got married at 16 because she wasn’t allowed to date… talk about unclear on the concept! The marriage lasted for 54 years until she was widowed in 2002.
In addition, Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Sarah Canup Burden; four brothers and one sister; and her son, Johnny Pate.
She leaves to mourn her loss, daughters, Nancy Carnahan (Mike), Judy Cobb (Darryl), Janice West (Larry), Geneva Graham, who she loved as a daughter, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pate; 7 grandchildren, David Frame, Stephanie Herzog, Andy Bailey, Mike and Joey Norton, John and Josh Pate; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be follow at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
