Coy L. White, age 87, of Killen, passed away Friday July 13, 2013. Visitation will be Monday night from 6-8 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, July 16, 2 p.m., at Center Star United Methodist Church, lying in state from 1-2 p.m. The Rev. Ian Butler and the Rev. Carol Goforth will be officiating with Masonic rites to follow. Burial will be at Bluewater Cemetery.
Coy was survived by his wife of 64 years, Corinne Williams White; son, Joel White and wife, Kerri; two grandchildren, Shelby and Caroline White; sister, June McGee; sisters-in-law, Ann Michael and Thelma White; brother–in-law, Carlon Barnette.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harvel S. and Sarah J. White, two brothers, Doyce and Cellie White.
Mr. White was a member of Center Star United Methodist Church for 72 years, a member of the American Legion Post for 33 years and Killen Masonic Lodge 788 F.A.M for 56 years. Coy was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy, served on the U.S.S. LST 247, and was a veteran of the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Pallbearers will be Craig Campbell, Chuck Creamer, Larry McGee, Terry McGee, David White, and Noel White. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben Headley, Harvey Redding Jr., Jim VanDusen, and the Beacon Sunday School Class.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to the choir fund of Center Star United Methodist Church.
