Logo Icon Frances Marie Bridges, more lovingly referred to as mother, grandma, grammy, and Francine, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully at home on the morning of November 5, 2026. Frances was a God-fearing woman who lived out her love for Jesus daily with her servant and generous spirit. She was known for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and loving heart. She was known for her open arms demeanor and her gift of making anyone not just feel like but become family in her presence. She had the ability to turn a pot of chicken-n-dumplings into an experience that anyone who encountered it would remember. She was the pillar of grace, class, and forgiveness within her family and the give that held everyone together both spiritually and physically.

It is often said that the best people write their own obituary by their beliefs and actions. There is nothing truer that could be said when it comes to Frances. Her life reflected her walk with Jesus and even through the enemy made many mountains for her to climb, her focus was always on Jesus even in the valleys.

Frances is preceded in death by her father Willam A. Smithey, mother Vergie L. Dean Smithey, husband Macon Bridges Jr., brother William “Billy” Smithey, and her grandson Joshua Hoskins.

She is survived by her sons; Macon David Bridges, William Jeffrey Bridges (Krystal), and Kyle Michael Bridges, her daughters; Deborah Kay Bridges (Ernest) and Carol Lynn Owens (Calvin “Pete”), grandchildren; Mary Kay Rancour (Mark), Billy Ray Bridges, Harley Bridges, Jeffry Bridges, Carolyn Bridges, Jessica Weinzall (Chad), Kevin Irwin, Ashton Bridges,  Jordan NeSmith (Jacob), Casey Judson (Terra), Austin Bridges, Gavin Bridges, Aynslee Bridges, and a multitude of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and lifelong friends.

For those who knew and loved her, there will always be an empty place at the table, but there is comfort in knowing that Frances has been welcomed home to the Lord she loved so dearly.

“Well done, thou good & faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
