This Obituary was beautifully written by the family:
Janie Lou (Sanford) Baldy, 84, of Nauvoo, Alabama, passed away at her residence. Janie was born and raised in the Haleyville, Alabama area to George and Garnet Sanford. She was a loving, caring, giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She worked 60 years in the sewing industry, not only as a seamstress, but as a supervisor and manager. She could just look at something, make a pattern, and sew it. Janie’s talent was broad—making clothes for her children, indoor or outdoor furniture, teddy bears given to children who needed cheering up, to prom and wedding dresses. She and her sister, Shirley, even upholstered car, motorcycle, and boat seats. Janie loved singing to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, usually “You Are My Sunshine.” Janie was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ. She became “MawMaw Janie” to many children riding the church van. She loved traveling with family and friends and having a good laugh. Janie loved cooking for others, she was one of the first to help make apple pies for Relay for Life. We want to thank everyone who called, visited, or helped in any way, especially Enhabit. They have been wonderful. Visitation will be Saturday November 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Double Springs Church of Christ where the service will be held the following day, Sunday November 8, at 2:00 p.m. Vance Hutton will officiate. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Youngblood (Terry), Debra Adair, Gina Baldy, Tammie Harbin (Randy); grandchildren, Joshua Adair, Latasha Adair, Greg Warren, Patrick Warren, Timothy Harbin (Sara), Rebekah Harbin, Mikayla Morris (Destin); great-grandchildren, Destini Adair, Anna Bailey, Brennen Lane, Kaelani Nalls, Cameron, Colt, Parker Morris, Wyatt Harbin, Ary Warren, Roman Warren; sisters, Faye French, Shirley Cagle (Joe); sister-in-law, Elisa Sanford; nieces and nephews, Chyrel Thrasher, Chris Cagle, Sherry Hampton (Wesley), Melinda Hamby, Kim Sawyer (Barry), Dewayne Sanford (Jennifer), Chad Sanford; extended family, Rayburn Baldy (Liz); and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, and many who called her “Mawmaw Janie.” Janie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Garnet Sanford; son, Randy “Bubba” Adair; great grandson, Bryant Adair; and brothers, Earl Sanford and Bucky Sanford.
