Susan Paige Smith, 63, passed away on October 19, 2026, at Rest Haven Nursing Home.
In true Susan fashion, no services will be held, and she will be laid to rest in Ripley City Cemetery. Never one for show or attention, Susan preferred the quiet simplicity that reflected the way she lived.
Born March 2, 1963, in Arkansas, Susan was the daughter of the late William Edward Smith, Sr., and Margaret Elaine Davis Smith. A high school graduate, she worked as a mechanic and made deliveries for Ashland Pharmacy.
Susan loved the simple comforts of country living and was a devoted “cat mother,” finding companionship and happiness in her beloved cats. She was known for her famous squash casserole, quick wit, and dry sense of humor, which often brought laughter when it was least expected.
Beneath her guarded manner was a tender heart. Susan was cautious about whom she trusted, but those welcomed into her life knew her as a faithful and loyal friend. Her circle was small, but the people in it held a special place in her heart.
Left to cherish her memory are her cousins, Kathy Dobson (Kirk) of Texas; Marvin Collins (Marolyn) of Arkansas, Toni Bankson (Dan) of Texas, Sandy Haynes (Kathy) of Mississippi, Sandra Catton (Ed) of Texas, Sheri (Manuel) of Texas, Suzanne Sauls (Jerry) of Texas, Stephanie Smith of Texas, and her longtime friend, Danny Hobson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Susan’s loved ones extend their heartfelt appreciation to her primary physician and dear friend, Dr. Susan Cappleman, for her compassionate care and treasured friendship. They also offer special thanks to Arden Hospice, especially nurse Heather and Bro. Rob, whose love, care, and support brought comfort to Susan and those who loved her during her final days.
Susan will be remembered with affection for her humor, her independent spirit, and the quiet love she shared with those closest to her.
Ripley Funeral Home is honored to serve Susan’s family.
