Larry Lafayette Lankford, age 81, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on October 28, 2026, surrounded by those he loved.Born in Attalla, Alabama, Larry called Gadsden home for most of his life. A proud patriot, he dedicated more than 25 years to serving his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Those closest to him will forever remember his playful wink and the familiar scrunch of his nose. He adored Glenda, his wife of 63 years, greeting her each morning with his affectionate, “Hi, pretty lady.” These small but beautiful expressions of love were a reflection of the man he was.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Lois Lankford, and his brothers, Murvill Hollis and David Lankford.
