Barbara Gean Birdsong, of Pulaski, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at her home in Giles County surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Limestone County, Alabama on November 18, 1944, and was 81 years old.Barbara was a faithful member of Ephesus Church of Christ, and a 1962 graduate of Elkton High School. She worked at Leemar and Fafnir, before retiring from Walmart. Barbara had a servant’s heart and devoted countless hours over the years to the Lions Club, tirelessly helping others and making a difference in her community. She enjoyed reading, playing games on her computer, and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. Barbara will be fondly remembered for her kindness, generous spirit, and willingness to always lend a helping hand.
Visitation will be Monday, October 26, 2026, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 27,2026, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The burial will be in Giles Memory Gardens
She was preceded in death by, her parents, Vadis Erskin and Ruth Malone Thornton. Her sisters, Margie Birdwell, Corene Thornton, Josephine Soloman, and Marie Patterson, and brother Erskin Thornton.
She is survived by her,
Husband of 63 years, Benny Birdsong of Pulaski, TN.
Daughter, Lisa Birdsong of Pulaski, TN.
Sisters-in-law, Joyce Birdsong of Pulaski, TN
Paulette Birdsong of Pulaski, TN
Martha Thornton of Athens, AL
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
