Wanda Shropshire Esponge was born on September 25, 1958 and moved on to her final journey on October 17, 2026. She was born and raised in Munford, Al. She spent her final years in Jacksonville, AL. She had an affinity for all creatures, but especially her cats. She devoted her years to caring for any in need. She was funny and eccentric. She spent time working on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico in her earlier years and was an avid supporter, in what ways that she could, for the University of Jacksonville. As the last of her siblings, her remaining family feels the loss of the final piece of a generation that could always be found together enjoying each other’s company.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Irene McDonald Shropshire. Siblings Edwin Shropshire Sr, Robert Shropshire Sr., Kenneth Shropshire, Frances Shropshire Williams, Jane Shropshire Carney, and Jimmy Shropshire. And her nephew Edwin Shropshire Jr.
She is remembered in life by nieces and nephews, Amber Gauldin (Garry Gauldin), Sara Mashburn Jass Ray (Steven Rousseau), Keith Carney (Karen Carney), Vicki Shropshire, Michael Carney (Summer Carney), Jennifer Shropshire (Erik Phillips), Becky Shropshire, Robert Shropshire Jr, Amy Shropshire, and David Shropshire.
