James Kelvin Handley, 56, Cherokee, passed away at his home after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 7,2026. Services will be at Mhoontown Methodist Church and will be announced next week. Sammy Waddell will be officiating.
Kelvin was a member of Mhoontown Methodist Church and worked as a technician at Essity Plant. He was also an amateur ham radio operator; his call sign was KQ4WGC. Kelvin loved fishing, camping and anything outdoors. He loved working with his hands and loved his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Handley; father, Melvin Handley; grandparents, James and Imagene Askew.
Kelvin is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Suzann Handley; daughter, Renee Hallmark (Tyler); mother, Kay Handley; brother, Allen Handley; sister, Vickie Marrey (Will); granddaughters, Gwen Hallmark and Alora Hallmark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Jonathan Bratton, Drew DeShawn, friends, Roy Hamm, Tommy Hamm, Aaron Putman, son-in-law, Tyler Hallmark.
