Richard “Richie” Blake Brooks, 72, passed away Peacefully at home with loved ones surrounding him on August 25, 2026. Born in Riverside, California, on January 13, 1954, Richie made his home in the Wellborn community of Anniston, Alabama, where he became a beloved part of the community he loved so dearly. He Graduated Wellborn High School in the class of 1973Richard “Richie” Blake Brooks.
He was born to Herbert “Tubby” and Mary Brooks. Richie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his spouse, Lindy Brooks; his children, Tammy Walker (Corey Daniel) and Tabitha Bowman (Daryn) (Barry Bowman)and his grandchildren, Brittany Reese (Marcus), Mariah Daniel (Donta), Kayla Bowman, Tyler Bowman (Gracie), and CJ Daniel (Jordyne). He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, who were truly his world and brought him immeasurable joy.
Richie is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Junior Cagle (Joyce), Shelia Lawrence (Curtis), Terry Busby (Marlene), and Larry Busby (Lorraine), along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Richie was an outgoing man with a personality that could fill a room. He loved to talk, tell stories, and spend time with people. There was never a dull moment when Richie was around. His laughter, his conversations, and his larger-than-life personality left an impression on everyone he met. To know him was to love him.
He enjoyed playing softball and bowling and was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Wellborn Panthers, and the Atlanta Braves. Above all, Richie loved his family and his Wellborn community. The people and places that surrounded him were a huge part of who he was, and he gave his heart freely to those he loved.🥰
Richie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will live on through the stories, laughter, love, and countless moments he shared with the people around him.
To know Richie was to love Richie. And those who loved him will carry a piece of him with them always.
A memorial service celebrating life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, Family will receive friends and family from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm with service starting at 2:00 pm.
