Logo IconMark Wayne Hamby, 34, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Mark was born on September 26, 1991, in Huntsville, and passed in the same city that raised him where all of his people were.

If you knew Mark, you knew laughter followed him into a room before he even got the door all the way open. He had this way of making you feel like the most important person he’d talked to all day, whether he’d known you your whole life or just met you five minutes ago in a parking lot. He never met a stranger he didn’t consider worth helping — if you needed something, Mark was already halfway out the door before you finished asking.

At the time of his passing he was working at Main Event, and honestly, it suited him — a place built around fun and people fit exactly who he was.

What a lot of people didn’t know is how genuinely talented he was. Give Mark a pencil and some paper and he could bring anything to life — his portraits weren’t just drawings, they were gifts, and anyone lucky enough to have one has a piece of him forever. Music meant everything to him too; it was always on, always part of him, always turned up.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donna and Stan Maxcy and Lois and Buford Wayne Hamby; his uncles, Brian Maxcy, Michael Maxcy, Darrel Hamby, Keith Hamby, and Eric Hartsgrove; his aunt, Hope Stricker; and his stepfather, Patrick Keith Johnson.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda Johnson; his brother, Chase Johnson; his sisters, Brandi Copeland and Madelyn Hamby; and his 8 first cousins, who all adored him.

Mark, your family love you more than words on a page could ever hold. You made every room brighter just by walking into it, and you made sure everyone around you knew they mattered. We will miss your laugh, the funny faces you made in every photo, your art, your music, and your heart for absolutely everyone. Until we see you again.

A family viewing will be held at Spry Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 9:00 AM, followed by a visitation for friends and family at 10:00 AM, with the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
