Timothy (Tim) Roger Swart, age 67, of Athens, Alabama, passed away at his residence on August 4, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1959, at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.
Tim was a man of many talents, interests, and an endless curiosity. He enjoyed restoring cars, was an avid audiophile, and had a passion for carpentry and renovating homes. He was also a devoted Washington Commanders fan, going back to their days as the Redskins. Tim spent considerable time researching ways to live a healthier lifestyle and made physical fitness a part of his daily routine, working out every day.
He had an incredible wealth of knowledge and seemed to know something about just about everything. Whether working with his hands, tackling a new project, researching something he wanted to understand, Tim’s curiosity and desire to learn were a defining part of who he was. He was quick-witted with a distinctly quirky sense of humor, but he also had a thoughtful and introspective side. He had a gift for putting his thoughts into words, writing reflections that captured his unique way of looking at life. Those who knew Tim will remember him as someone you could turn to when you wanted to know how something worked, how to fix it, or simply needed an answer to a question.
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Ernie Swart, and brother, Gary Swart. He is survived by his longtime partner, Janie Hughes; sons, Brent Swart and Garret Swart (Jenna); grandsons, Logan, Easton, and Bronson Swart; mother, Jackie Swart; brother, Ed Swart (Patty); sister, Deb Harig (Keith); and nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
No formal service will be held. Tim will be deeply missed. His family and friends will remember him in their own ways and carry with them his quick wit, endless curiosity, and the unique way he looked at the world.
