Dayton Eugene McAfee Dayton Eugene McAfee passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on June 12, 1944, to the late Luther and Clura McAfee. He was married to Velma Rogers Carpenter McAfee.

Dayton was employed by the Russellville City School System as a Bus Driver for over 55 years. For many years, Dayton & friends would go to nursing homes to play music for the residents and staff. He enjoyed all music. His favorite song was “Only One Rose Will Do.” He graduated from Belgreen High School in 1962.

Dayton enjoyed reading the Bible daily and has read it from cover to cover. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and loved his beloved wife, Velma. As a bus driver, he watched many kids grow up and have kids of their own. He was a kindhearted man that loved his Lord, family, all the children whom he drove to school and he was always smiling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepdaughter, Flora Carpenter Holland, step-granddaughter, Cindy Mansell Cooper.

Dayton is survived by his beloved stepdaughter, Faye Mansell (Ed); stepson, Larry Carpenter (Julie); step-grandchildren, Doug Mansell, Steve Mansell, Mike Mansell (Tiffany), Brian Carpenter; step-great grandchildren, Ashley Faye King (Josh), Kendell Everett (Wendy); special friends, Harold McAfee, Randy Hargett, and his dear friends at Legacy Chevron that he would see every morning.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at K.P. Cemetery with Mike Mansell officiating.
