Wanda Moore Beasley, age 88, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born September 11, 1937, to Otis Arnold Guerin and Rosa Lee Frazier Guerin. Wanda was born in Paint Rock, Alabama, and grew up there and New Market, Alabama, on the family farm. She graduated from New Market High School in 1955 with honors. She married Troy Lee Moore, in that same year, and they were married 41-years until his death in 1996. She later married Louie Beasley, and they shared 25 years together until his passing in 2023.
Wanda enjoyed a 29-year career with U. S. Army Missile Command culminating in the position of Security Specialist. She made many outstanding contributions to the mission of the Personnel and Technology Branch, Counterintelligence Division. She retired to provide care for her parents.
Wanda had great love for her family, gardening and cooking. Wanda loved and protected her family with all her heart. While all her family were special to her none was more special than her granddaughter, Anna Lee. She was the center of her world. Wanda had a lifelong love of gardening, tending her flowers with the same care she gave the people around her. Her kitchen was a gathering place, where she shared home cooked meals and the kind of laughter that made everyone feel at home.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Moore Thomas (Jason), Teresa Beasley Coulson (David), Lora Beasley Riley (Mark); grandchildren, Anna Lee Thomas, Eric Coulson (Autumn), Shelley Riley (Mike); 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her siblings, Joe Guerin (Norma) and Patsy Perry (Donald).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Rosa Guerin; brother, Billy Ray Guerin and sister-in-law, Peggy Guerin.
Wanda loved Proverbs 22:1: “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.”
She lived a life rooted in her Christian faith. Her family rejoices in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Athens. Funeral service will take place beginning at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville.
The family would like to thank the staff of Athens-Limestone Hospital and Restore Therapy Pavillion for the excellent care, patience and support shown to Wanda and her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The EDGE Program at Union University Attn: Office of Institutional Advancement 1050 Union University Drive Jackson, TN 38305 or Emmanuel Baptist Church 1917 Highway 72 W Athens, AL 35611.
