Robert (Bob) Ash passed away the morning of August 7th, 2026, in the company of loved ones at home after a long battle with cancer. Bob leaves behind his beloved son, Robert Carl Ash (32), and was preceded in death by his dear wife, Debra Annette Ash (64). Bob was born in St. Louis, MO, to a loving mother (Sylvia Kahn Ash) and father (Carl Ash). Bob was a loving brother to three older sisters, Billie Baron (Bruce), Jane Raimondo (John), and Ruth Rassieur (Tom). Bob was son-in-law to Martin “George” Neumeier and Carleen (Porterfield) Neumeier. Bob was a beloved uncle to 14 and granduncle to 10.
Bob’s career began at Central Hardware in St. Louis, MO. He moved to DCT/MA ALTRUP cutting tools and, finally, Makino/SST Machinery in Huntsville, AL, from where he happily retired in spring 2025. Bob always had a busy schedule, but no matter what he always made time in his schedule to play with his son, nephews and nieces, as well as hang out with friends and family.
Bob spent his free time fixing up muscle cars, attending car shows, and driving in time trial rallies. Bob joined automotive clubs including: The MG Club of St. Louis (2001-2005), Cars and Coffee social club in Huntsville, AL, and Cars on the Square car show in Athens, AL. Bob’s favorite vehicle in his massive collection was his suped-up 1980 black Chevy Camaro Z28. Bob always loved taking his family on antiquing trips to support his wife’s antique addiction. His mother-in-law, Carlene, would often tag along. Bob and his family enjoyed exploring the United States on road trips and would always come back through St. Louis to check-in with friends and family.
Bob had special friendships with neighbors, fellow parents, car nerds, coworkers, and customers. He will be greatly missed.
