Charlotte Hughes Wallace, 79, of Fort Payne, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at her home. She was born April 24, 1947 to the late Charles Warner Hughes and Alice Smith Hughes. Charlotte retired from Vulcraft/Nucorp after 46 years. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. Always a Fort Payne Wildcat, she was 1965 graduate and was a cheerleader, including the year the football team won State. Charlotte loved sports and was always found cheering from the stands watching her children and later her grandchildren in their many, many events through the years.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Moses and Dr. Pat McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service. The family is accepting flowers or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Fort Payne, Whitehall United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society to fight multiple myeloma or melanoma.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Wallace; children Ashley Jackson (Heath), Tyler Griggs (Brandi), Josh Wallace (Heather), and Zachary Wallace (Bridgett); grandchildren McKenzie Griggs, Maddie Jackson, Meredith Jackson, Blake Griggs, Madison Faucett (Reid), Madison Haygood (Landon), Isabella Self, Victoria Self, Anna Wallace and Colt Wallace; and great-grandchildren Hadley, Harper, Holden, and Hudson Faucett and Sutton Haygood.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Zach Griggs.
