Ms. Patricia Ann Hackney, age 88, of Montgomery, Alabama, has gone to her heavenly home. She was a native of Florence, Alabama, and grew up a member of Highland Baptist Church. She had many fond memories of attending church and living on Howell Street.
Visitation will be held at Greenview Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 12-12:30 p.m. with the service following at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel. She will be laid to rest at Greenview Memorial Park alongside her parents.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Linnie Potts; her brother, Johnny Potts; and her grandson, Tyler Spry.
She is survived by a loving family who will treasure the good memories they share with her. Her children are daughter, Lesia, and son-in-law, Ben Cochran; daughter, Cindy, and son-in-law, John Gibbons; son, Vaughn, and daughter-in-law, Lynn Hackney. Her precious grandchildren are Christi and husband Lance Green, Tyler Spry, Max Spry, Mary Lynne Gibbons, Lauren and husband Andy Ballard, Johnny and wife Emilie Gibbons, Joseph and wife Kristen Gibbons, Matt Cochran, Erik and Shelby Wilson, Evie Hackney, and Brooks Hackney. Her cherished great-grandchildren are Braden and Bennett Green, Abigail, Caroline, and Charlie Ballard, Thayer, Liam, and Ellie Gibbons, Canon and Riley Gibbons, Lily and Ivy Wilson, Jake and Avery Cochran.
Patricia loved her children and grandchildren, enjoyed making her home beautiful, grew many beautiful flowers and plants, dressed like Jacqueline Kennedy, and was often told she resembled Elizabeth Taylor. She was a real beauty and enjoyed making things beautiful in her life. One of her claims to fame was that Elvis asked her out in Muscle Shoals at one of his first performances in the 1950’s but she politely declined. She was industrious, athletic, very smart, independent, and very accomplished as a homemaker, seamstress, and longtime Alabama Education Department Administrative Assistant. She loved and nurtured many animals and filled our lives with many beloved pets through the years!
We will miss her and are so thankful to have known and loved her as Momma, Grandmom, Pat Pat, and Granny!
