Mona Kay Klarer, 78, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lewisburg, TN.
Born on July 18, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana, Mona was the beloved daughter of Warren and Ima Jean (Gale) Brown. She graduated from Albany High School in Albany, Indiana, and in 1968 married the love of her life, Ronald J. “Ronnie” Klarer. Together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
Mona made her home in Albany, Indiana, until 1989, when she and her family relocated to Lewisburg, Tennessee. She devoted 25 years of service to the Marshall County Clerk’s Office, where she retired in 2019. Mona truly loved her work, cherished the friendships she made, and enjoyed meeting and helping the people of Marshall County each day.
A woman of deep faith, Mona enjoyed attending First Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg. While residing at Oakwood, she faithfully attended church services whenever possible. Mona found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved traveling, cheering on Indiana University basketball, and spending quiet afternoons reading John Grisham novels. More than anything, she treasured time with her family. She especially loved visiting with her beloved brother and sisters and creating cherished memories while shopping with her granddaughters. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ronald J.“Ronnie” Klarer, and by her parents, Warren and Ima Jean Brown.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Julie (Darin) Selvey of Lewisburg, Tennessee; her son, Phillip Klarer of Eagleville, Tennessee; her sisters, Rita (Gary) Cravens of Muncie, Indiana, Gale (Michael) Fisher of Muncie, Indiana, and Patty (Tony) Sanders; her brother, Steve Brown of Bedford, Indiana; her sister-in-law, Susan (Jim) Winkle of Muncie, Indiana; her granddaughters, Olivia (Wilson) Spivey, Katie Ann (Carson) Walker, and Alexandria Klarer; and her three treasured great-grandchildren, Walker, Wyatt, and Savannah, all of Tennessee. She also leaves many extended family members and dear
friends.
Mona’s legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center for the love and care shown to Mona during her residency.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a charity that was close to Mona’s heart and one she faithfully supported.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at London Funeral Home and Crematory, 324 W. Church Street, Lewisburg, TN. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of London Funeral Home with Luke Bagley presiding.
