Rose Lavene Rainey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend, ran into the arms of Jesus on July 8, 2026, at the age of 82. She passed peacefully at her home in Florence, AL with her family by her side, and entered her heavenly home.

Born on May 15, 1944, in Lawrenceburg, TN, Lavene lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She had a huge heart, a generous spirit, and a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and loved. She was affectionately known as “Weenie” to her children’s childhood friends, whom she treated and loved as her own. A longtime member of Gum Springs Baptist Church (Lawrenceburg), she loved her Lord and Savior, as well as her church family with her whole heart. Lavene touched countless lives through her sweet and caring personality.

Lavene was raised on a small farm in Lawrenceburg, TN, by her mother and father. She had a large extended family that she loved dearly. She had a strong work ethic and several occupations during her life. The last two were at SunTrust Bank (Lawrenceburg), then retiring from The State of Tennessee, where she helped to educate and prepare women for entering the workforce. She was very creative, an avid hobbyist, gardener, and she loved to cook and bake for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay Thompson and Rosa IvaDell Risner Thompson; her husband, James Ronald Rainey; and her daughter, Sherry Lynn Rainey.

Lavene is survived by her daughter, Michele Broadfoot (Jay), son, Keith Rainey (Robin); grandchildren, Maggie Rickard (Alex), Darby Coker (Zack), Matthew Rainey (Avery), Andrew Rainey, Abby Kate Rainey (Jesse), and Maggie Clark; and great-grandchildren, Charlee Mae Dison, River Cordell Rainey, Vivian Rose Rickard, and Clay Lawrence Coker. Lavene’s greatest earthly joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She prayed for them daily and loved them deeply.

Those serving as pallbearers are Keith Rainey, Matthew Rainey, Andrew Rainey, Jay Broadfoot, Alex Rickard, Zack Coker, and Jesse Dison.

She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2026, with Chad Clanton officiating. Interment will follow at Deerfield Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. Lavene was a long-time contributor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warriors. Memorials can be made to either of these in her name.
