Doris Bain McKinney Profile Photo Doris Geneva Bain McKinney, age 92, passed away at Regency Retirement Village in Jackson, TN on July 6, 2026.

She was born in Madison County on November 27, 1933, daughter of the late Leonard Oneil and Lala Ruth Brasher Bain. She grew up in the Five Points Community of Madison County and attended Pinson School and graduated from Jackson High School. Doris later attended West Tennessee Business College and Jackson State Community College.

Doris married Owen McKinney in 1965 and were married for 55 years until his passing in 2020. Owen and Doris made their home in the Five Points Community.

She worked as an accountant / bookkeeper for numerous businesses and prepared taxes for many individuals over the years.

Doris was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and had served as VBS coordinator for years. She also served in the cemetery committee, Director of Senior Activities, sang in the choir and was part of the secret sister’s program.

She loved gardening and was a Master Gardener. Doris enjoyed traveling and had visited 48 states. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gospel singing and Christmas time.

She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her loving family of four sons; Garey Gaugh (Debbie) of Beech Bluff, Lee Gaugh (Diane) of Jackson, TN, Neil Gaugh (Lori) of Henderson and Curt McKinney (Paula) of Pinson; nine grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Gaugh of Pinson and sister-in-law, Celia Bain of Ashville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; son, Thomas Gaugh, Sr.; daughter, Darla Gaugh; sister, Jewel Barrett; four brothers, Lois, Charles, Lee and Earl Bain and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Gaugh.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday July 9, 2026, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Glenn Harris and Shelia O’Mara officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time.
