Barbara Joe Hyatt, age 87, of Arab, Alabama, left this walk of life for her Heavenly Home on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Barbara was born on September 3, 1938, in Cullman County, Alabama, to the late Joe Carter Pearson and Emma Lou Harper Pearson. She grew up in Fairview, Alabama, where she attended and graduated from Fairview High School. Barbara and Max Hyatt were married for 68 years before his death on April 22, 2023. She was a loving wife to Max and a loving mother to her four sons. Barbara was a licensed cosmetologist for over 60 years, during much of which she owned and operated a local beauty shop, “Barbara’s Hair Design”, in Arab. She considered each client a close friend and was always eager to share an encouraging word. Barbara was always willing to help others, living her life as a faithful example of a Godly woman and a true servant to those around her. Barbara was renowned for her delicious fried chicken, potato salad, chocolate pies, and other homemade candies and desserts. She was a dedicated member of Arab First United Methodist Church in Arab, Alabama, where she sang in the choir every opportunity she had.
Barbara Joe Hyatt is survived by four sons, Ronald Barry Hyatt (Tess) of Holly Pond, Alabama, Timothy Lynn Hyatt of Arab, Alabama, Rodney Neil Hyatt (Suzanne) of Scottsboro, Alabama, and Jonathan Lee Hyatt of Arab, Alabama, and sisters Sue Pearson Burke of Arab, Alabama, and Earlene Pearson Love of Cullman, Alabama. She is also survived by grandchildren, by whom she was lovingly known as “Nana”, Chelsea Hyatt Young (Kyle) and Jon Ross Hyatt; her step-grandchildren, Michael Bell, Brian Isom (Amber), and Holli Kenney (Nick); nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Max Leon Hyatt, her father, Joseph Carter Pearson, mother, Emma Lou Harper Pearson, and sisters, Edna Faye Pearson Elrod and Annetta Pearson Parker.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 8, 2026, beginning at 12:00 noon at Arab First United Methodist Church in Arab, Alabama. The funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Henry Prater officiating. The burial service will take place at Arab Memorial Cemetery in Arab, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arab First United Methodist Church in her memory.
