Sherman, who born January 29, 1967, in Decatur, Alabama to Sherman Blackstone Powell Jr. and Diane Alston Powell, died on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.

He was affectionately known as “Stoney” and followed his dream as a forty-year aviator. He was a professional pilot and Manager of the Hartselle Airport. His four decades as a pilot inspired many to share his passion for flight. He dearly loved his family and friends and their cabin home of five years in the hills of Tennessee. He was currently an active member of Stoney Grace Place Church in Pulaski, TN., and greatly enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his Church band, and with The Dirt Road Gospel Band.

Holly and Blackstone wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has surrounded them with love, prayers visits, cards, food, and support during this difficult time. Special thanks Compassus Hospice Group of Lawrenceburg, TN., the Maury Regional Medical Center, and the congregation of Grace Place in Pulaski, and the Hartselle Airport.
