Billie "June" Denney-FinlayBillie June Denney-Finlay was born on March 25, 1938, and passed away peacefully at her home on June 27, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by her husband and children.

June was a lifelong resident of Albertville, Alabama. She was lovingly known by most as “Mama June,” a name that reflected the warmth, kindness, and love she shared so freely with everyone she met.

June gave her heart to Jesus as a young girl, asking Him to be her Savior, and was later baptized. Her life was devoted to following Christ. She was a faithful prayer warrior who loved reading God’s Word, sharing her faith with others, and serving her church. She was a longtime member of Hewett Methodist Church and later a devoted member of Albertville First Methodist Church.

June was a homemaker for most of her life, and her greatest joy was loving her family, cooking, and creating a home where everyone felt welcomed. She also worked in the family business, The Trading Post , where she never met a stranger. Many customers walked into the Trading Post as customers, but they left as friends of Mama June.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ray J. Denney and her parents, Flo Holsonback Raines (Gurley) and Burtis Hilsman (Corene).

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Andrew G. Finlay, Jr.; her son, Steve Denney (Vickie); her daughter, Deborah Denney Terry (Scott); four grandchildren: Craig Denney (Emily), Blake Terry (Melissa), Valerie Denney Edge (Justin), and Michele Terry Falls (Gabe); 12 great-grandchildren; several half-brothers, step-siblings, nieces, nephews, and special lifelong friends; as well as Dr. Finlay’s children and grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and who loved her.

Her greatest ministry was loving people well, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.

Funeral services will be held at Adams Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 30, visitation 9-11am, service following at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice or Albertville First Methodist Church of Albertville.
