MUSCLE SHOALS-The Muscle Shoals Amateur Radio Club (MSARC) holds its annual Field Day exercise at Gattman Park on Saturday and Sunday.
Field Day is the premier national amateur radio event. During this weekend, local hams set up temporary, off-the-grid transmitting stations in public parks to demonstrate the science of radio and test their emergency preparedness capabilities. The exercise allows operators to establish contacts with thousands of other stations across the United States and Canada.
Hands-on experience is often available, allowing prospective hams or youth to operate stations under the supervision of licensed veterans.
