Agatha Faye “Ernie” Cantrell Young, age 86 of Smithville, was born July 25, 1939 and went home to be with on Sunday morning, June 28, 2026 at her home. She was married 52 years to Eddie Young, Sr. Agatha was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church. She retired from DeKalb County High School after 15 years working in the cafeteria. Mrs. Young was the daughter of the late Ernest P. and Mattie Lee Adcock Cantrell. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Cleta and Michael Murphy; son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Sabra Redmon; five brothers, Gene, Carl, John, Hoyt and Toot Cantrell; three sisters, Katy Cantrell, Macon Haas and Josie Shehane and special sister-in-law, Faye Cantrell. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and dedicated husband of 52 years, Eddie Young, Sr. of Smithville; three sons, Tommy Redmon and Eddie Young both of Smithville, Ronnie (Judy) Redmon of Dowelltown; two daughters, Angela (Ricky) Knowles of Smithville and Sherry (Alonza) Harris of Virginia; grandchildren, Eric Morris, Avionda Harris, Precious Harris, Trista (Jeremy) Ashburn, Camillia Murphy, Makayla (Blake) Billings, Josh (Aimee) Johnson, Randy Johnson, Timothy (D’Andrea) Phillips, Ronnie Redmon, Jr., Patty (Mark) Hale, Joey (Stephanie) Redmon, Amy Ferrell, Faith Knowles, Scotty Knowles, Jason Knowles, Terry Knowles, Airiana Stone and Triniti Stone; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; best friend, Kaydence Johnson. There are some special “Thank You’s” that Mrs. Agatha had expressed prior to her homegoing, Tim Tobitt for everything he has done and his staff; To her family for everything, Angela, Tristia and Kaydence for the times they carried me to Cookeville and the night they came to spend the night while Eddie stayed all night in the hospital. Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Cornelius officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday 3 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Elevate Youth at New Life UPC. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Young family.
