Billy Ray Tidwell, 83, Haleyville, AL went home to be with the Lord and join his beloved wife, Linda, walking the streets of gold June 8, 2026. He lived a wonderfully full and blessed life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and service to others.
Visitation will be Friday June 12, 2026 from 1:00PM – 2:00PM at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, AL. Funeral service at 2:00PM in the chapel, with Bro. Clint Frederick officiating. Burial to follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Billy is survived by his children, Rita (Tim) Southern, Tony Tidwell, and Lee Ann Wallace; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Linda Tidwell, and his son, Darrell Tidwell.
Billy was deeply loved by his church family, whom he cherished dearly. He was a member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church. His faith in God guided every aspect of his life, and he found comfort in knowing that the Lord was always watching over him. He enjoyed working outdoors and was determined to stay active and busy throughout his life. Even when he was no longer physically able to do as much as he once had, he still looked for ways to help others, whether it was mowing a yard or lending a hand wherever he could.
Serving the Lord meant serving others, and Billy lived that calling every day. He never met a stranger. Within minutes of meeting someone, he would know their life story, and they would have gained a lifelong friend. His warm smile, caring heart, and genuine interest in people made everyone feel welcome and valued.
Billy’s family and friends will remember him for his unwavering faith, his generous spirit, and the love he shared so freely with everyone he met. While he will be greatly missed, those who knew and loved him find peace in knowing that he has been reunited with Linda and is now resting in the presence of his Savior.
His life was a testimony to God’s love, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
