Tennessee Valley Museum of Art Presents “It’s In the Water: The Musical Heritage of the Shoals”

TUSCUMBIA  — The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art is proud to present It’s In the Water: The
Musical Heritage of the Shoals, a special exhibition celebrating the rich musical legacy that has made the
Shoals region internationally renowned. The exhibition will be on view from June 16 through August 1,
2026, at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia.

The exhibition explores the people, places, stories, and cultural influences that have shaped the
distinctive sound and enduring musical impact of the Shoals. Visitors will discover the creative spirit that
continues to define Northwest Alabama through photography, memorabilia, and personal items from the
people and families of those in the rooms where the magic happened.

A special ticketed opening reception will be held on Friday, June 20, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Guests will
enjoy a live musical performance by Shoals musician Jordan Allen Dean, along with hors d’oeuvres and
refreshments. Admission to the reception is limited to 100, at $50 per person. Tickets are available

The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and
Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
