Florence Police Arrest Sheffield Police Officer For Transmitting Obscene Material To A Minor

  FLORENCE-Several weeks ago, the Florence Police Department Criminal Investigation Division opened an investigation into allegations that Dyquayvious King, 22, of Tuscumbia, transmitted obscene images to a minor.

After further investigation, probable cause was developed and a warrant was issued for King’s arrest. On May 13, 2026, King was arrested and charged with Transmitting Obscene Images to a Minor.

He is currently being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. Any questions regarding his employment should be directed to the Sheffield Police Department.

King is innocent until proven guilty.

Statement from Sheffield Police Department Police Chief Chris Tate:

On 5/13/2026 at approximately 9:00AM, Florence detectives came to Sheffield Police Department in regard to a current employee with Sheffield Police Department.  They advised they had a warrent for Dyquayvious King for Transmitting Obscene Material to a Minor.  Contact was made with Dyquayvious King at Sheffield Police Department around noon and he was immediately terminated as a Sheffield Police Officer and turned over to Florence Police Department for the above charge.  Any questions regarding the investigation can be referred to Florence Police Department ~ Chris Tate, Police Chief Sheffield Police Department
