Carlos Leon Borden, age 81, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 09, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 30, 1944, to Arthur and Mattie Borden. The youngest of nine children, he lived most of his life in the Tharptown community except for living a brief time in Grayson, AL and Collinwood, TN.
Carlos was a talented brick mason known for his attention to detail and quality of his work. He was a simple man who enjoyed time spent on his porch, visiting with his family and friends while enjoying a good cup of coffee. He was a devoted dad to his three sons, visiting or calling often just to check on them. He was also a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
Carlos was married to his beloved wife, Darlene, for 58 years. He was a faithful member of Tharptown Friendship Holiness Church until his health prevented him from attending. He was a man of deep faith. His love for Jesus Christ shaped the way he lived, and he wanted everyone to know about Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Mattie Borden; grandson, Ryan Borden; brothers, Van, Elmer, and William Borden; sisters, Mildred Cassel, Linnie Mae Partain, Dorothy Davis, and Lorene Colburn.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Darlene Borden; sons, Chris Borden (Suzanne), Faron Borden (Kim), Rodney Borden (Amy); grandchildren, Wesley Borden (Meghan), Adam Borden (Rachel), Leah Evans (Hayden), Adriana Nelson (Trey), Sydney Scott (Peyton), Hannah Borden; great-grandchildren, Hallie Scott, Ada Evans, and Darby Borden (on the way). He is also survived by his sister, Etta Cole and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The burial will be at Tharptown Friendship Holiness Church cemetery.
The pallbearers are Wesley Borden, Adam Borden, Hayden Evans, Trey Nelson, Peyton Scott, and Kerry Hood.
