Margaret Ann Skillington – Obituary

Margaret Ann Skillington, age 86, a resident of Snow Creek Road in Santa Fe, passed away Saturday morning, March 17, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living where she and her sister, Ruth resided for three years.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 4:00PM at Santa Fe Cemetery with Sherry Ladd officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00-3:30PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ann was born on October 31, 1931 and reared on the family farm on Snow Creek Road in the Santa Fe Community. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lois Skillington. She was a 1949 graduate of Santa Fe School and attended Columbia Business College. She was a member of Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Ann previously worked for the State of Tennessee in Nashville and Avco Manufacturing in data processing. She later returned to Columbia and worked for Tennessee Valley Packing and Gidcomb-Fraser men’s clothing store and retired from Maury Regional Hospital in central supply.

Ann was a big fan of gospel music and attended many Wally Fowler concerts at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and the Annual Gospel Singing in Louisville, Kentucky. Her favorite quartets were the Statesmen and the Blackwood Brothers.

Ann always enjoyed all of the family holidays and cook-outs provided by her mother and brother, Dewey. Being from a family of eight children, there was always a huge crowd.

A favorite of her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, Ann is survived by her sisters: Ruth Skillington of Santa Fe, Faye Skillington Bohannon of Santa Fe; brothers: Dewey Skillington of Santa Fe and David Skillington of Santa Fe; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: John Robert and Joe Frank Skillington; and sister: Rachael Skillington Fraser.

Pallbearers will include: Ricky Skillington, Terry Skillington, Gerry Skillington, Charlie Skillington, Travis Hann, James Skillington, Steve Carmichael, and Cole Carmichael.
