MUSCLE SHOALS – In this, the second installment of interviews with Muscle Shoals music-makers, David Hood discusses the importance of the film “Muscle Shoals”. The amazing story of how a bunch of country-boys, both “White” and “Colored”, left their differences at the front door of the studios and went inside to record some of the most endearing music of our time is a tribute to that unlikely miracle.
The film, which premiered at The Sundance Film Festival this month, has already started to win awards. It garnered “First Place” in Colorado, and is generating accolades wherever it is screened. “Muscle Shoals” makes its debut in The Shoals on February 27. It will also be screened at The University of North Alabama on March 1. Tickets for the Marriott screening may be a bit too pricey for some at $100.00 each, however UNA tickets are a bit less at $20.
The Quad-Cities Daily interviewed Hood at legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama recently. It is one of four interviews that were given to us on February 19. Hood’s fellow “Swamper” and recording legend, Jimmy Johnson’s interview was published Thursday. Rodney Hall of FAME Studios will be presented tomorrow (Tuesday, February 26). The final interview featuring the Father of Muscle Shoals Music, Rick Hall, runs Wednesday, the day of the screening at the Marriott Conference Center. (Tickets are still available.)
