Pattie Ann Rice – Obituary

Pattie Ann Rice, age 70, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, passed away on February 23, 2013. The family will receive friends at Morrison Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Randy Thompson, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Tuscumbia officiating. The Rev. Rick Oberheide, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Sheffield, will give the committal with burial in Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery.

Miss Rice gave many years of service to Southside Elementary School as a library assistant and offered her volunteer service to Helen Keller Hospital for a time. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tuscumbia, and with her mother was active in the Tennessee Valley Historical Society and the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation. She was a graduate of Deshler High School, class of 1961.

Miss Rice was born on July 4, 1942, to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gunning Rice (Sarah Jane Finley). She was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Harvey, as well as by her parents.

She is survived by cousins: Ken Langabee and wife, Yai, Kansas City, MO; Bob Langabee and wife, Joanne, and Carol Langabee, all of Bellevue, NE; and Ninon Parker and husband, Richard, of Tuscumbia, and their extended families. She also leaves a cousin, Sally Watts, Birmingham.

Pallbearers will be Stuart Chappell, Scott Dawsey, Frank Manush, Forrest Smallwood, Bob Langabee, Ken Langabee, and Richard Parker.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the following loving caregivers and friends: Vickie Cooper, Ruby Epps and Laura Wilkes.
