Warrants Served…Drugs Found…Nine Arrested

HARTSELLE– The Morgan County  Drug Task Force, the ABC Drug Enforcement and the Hartselle Police Department issued and served two Search Warrants and executing two Arrest Warrants on Wednesday, June 11th.

Here is how Sheriff Ana Franklin describe the events:

“Wednesday, June 11, 2014 the Morgan County Drug Task Force, along with ABC Drug Enforcement and the Hartselle Police Department executed two Search Warrants and executed two Arrest Warrants throughout the evening, arresting nine individuals on various drug and criminal offenses.

Agents with the Drug Task Force and ABC Drug Enforcement first executed a Search Warrant at the residence located at 1404 Gum Springs Rd. in the Falkville area. Agents arrested Christopher Sandlin (w/m 36), Cynthia Long (w/f 38) and James Brown (w/m 50). Christopher Sandlin and Cynthia Long were arrested and charged with the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and for the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set for $600.00 each. James Brown was arrested and charged with Loitering in Drug House. Bond set at $300.00. While executing a Search Warrant, Agents made contact with Jeane Nicole Melson (w/f 40) and Donna Nell Jackson (w/f 47). Donna Jackson was attempting to hide in the rear compartment of the vehicle driven by Jeane Melson. Donna Jackson was found also to be in possession of several Controlled Substance pills and Jeane Melson was in possession of an opened alcoholic beverage within the vehicle. Jeane Melson was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of Prohibited Liquor (IPPL). Bond set at $300.00 and Donna Jackson was arrested and charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Valium and bond set at $2,500.00.

Agents, while en route to the second Search Warrant, observed the subject, Tanner Phillips, (w/m 20), standing outside of a residence, located at 1702 Hayes St. SW in Hartselle. Agents were aware that Tanner Phillips had outstanding warrants for his arrest for Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. Upon making contact with Tanner Phillips, Agents spoke with Alex Stewart Smith (w/f 40), subject being the mother of Tanner Phillips. Agents learned that Alex Smith had outstanding Contempt of Court Arrest Warrants for Failure to Pay Child Support. Tanner Phillips and Alex Smith were arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail.

Agents then executed a Search Warrant at a residence located at 501 Sloss St. in Hartselle, Al. Agents made contact with Gerald Curtis Goodwin Jr. (w/m 33) and George Edward Freer (w/m 28). Agents located Methamphetamine making materials and equipment (Lithium strips, Pseudoephedrine, Lye, Fuel, Muriatic Acid and a hose for an HCL Gas Generator). Agents also located a large quantity of liquid and powder Methamphetamine within the residence. Both subjects were decontaminated on site by Hartselle Fire Department, due to Chemical exposure of the Methamphetamine Manufacturing process, and later transported to the Morgan County Jail.

Both subjects- Gerald Goodwin Jr. and George Freer were charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine 1st , Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine and for the Unlawful Possession of Felony Drug Paraphernalia. Bond set by Judge Waters totaling $200,000.00 for each.”
