Wynette Norton Mixon, of Sheffield, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the age of 81. Her visitation will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield. The funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Randy Burbank officiating. She will be buried in Wofford Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Vernon, Alabama.
Wynette was a native of Lamar County, Alabama, and was a librarian for 40 years in public schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.R. Norton and Maudie Norton; stepmother, Ruby Norton; and her loving husband, Jones Earl Mixon.
She is survived by her son, David Earl Mixon (Allison); daughter, Deana Mixon Lesley (Lee); brother, Gray Norton (Betty Jo); sisters, Dean Thomas and Jane Turman (James); and grandchildren, Sarah Mixon, Mary Caroline and Will Lesley.
Wynette’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield.
