Willie Maples “Bill” Richardson, age 90, of Florence, passed from this earth on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Mitchell Hollingsworth facility. He was born on October 1, 1924 to Emmett and Charity Richardson in Lauderdale County. At age 23 he married Betty Parker on October 12, 1947. He worked as a painter at Reynolds Metals, TVA, and Wilson Paint Contractors in Huntsville. He retired from Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital as a painter in 1986. He was a member of North Carolina Church of Christ for many years. He later moved to Florence and became a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Church of Christ. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Matt Heupel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
He is survived by three daughters, Janis Sutter (Paul), Pam Richardson, Tina Jones all of Florence; four grandchildren, Traci Brown, Natasha Boatright (Lee), Cory Richardson (Jennifer), Haley Moore (Josh); seven great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Paul, and Emory Brown, Natlie Boatright, Carson and Madi Moore, Penelope Richardson; sister, Margaret Redwine of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Parker Richardson; grandson, Bradley Jones; parents, Emmett and Charity; four brothers.
Pallbearers will be Chris Rich, Josh Moore, Cory Richardson, Randy Parker, Ricky Parker, and Aubrey Brown.
The family would like to extend our great appreciation to the staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth. And a special thank you to all the nurses on Station 5; he loved you all.
