Willie Alford Frye age 86 passed away September 23, 2022 at AHC Forest Cove in Jackson.
He was born December 14, 1935 in McNairy County, the son of the late Alford Dewey and Lela Elizabeth Rouse Frye. He grew up and attended school in McNairy County. He was married to Betty Cupples for twenty-seven years and they lived in Madison County.
He worked as a supervisor for International Paper (Duro) in Jackson for thirty-four years.
He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and spending time with his dogs. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Sam.
Mr. Frye is survived by a son, James Robert Frye (Wendy) of Jackson; a stepson, John Smrt (Rebecca) of Memphis; stepdaughters, Cindy Smrt of Carrollton, TX, Debby Scott (Jerry) of Pinson and Sandy Whitaker of Pinson; eight grandchildren, Robby Frye, Randy Frye (Miranda), Tyler Smrt (Kim), Jack Smrt, Gunner Scott (Anna), Sara Templeton, Hannah Whitaker and Heather Whitaker; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Godsey (Paul) of Bartlett and Linda Faulkner of Finger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Edith Dallas, Estell Russell, Frances Nelson, Reva Melton and Bonnie Frye and a brother, Wilbur Frye.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2022 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Kenneth Dallas officiating. Burial will follow in Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday service time.
