Dr. William Scott Pennington, Sr. age 87 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Athens Rehab and Sr. Care. Dr. Pennington was born December 7, 1927 in Nashville, TN to Jefferson Pennington and Edna Scott Pennington.
Services will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 11:00 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Gary Enfinger and Keith Turberville officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Dr. Pennington was longtime Physician in Athens and a member of the Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survived by his wife, Betty Pennington of Athens; two sons, Dr. William Scott Pennington, Jr. and John Milton Pennington both of Birmingham, AL; one daughter, Claire Pennington also of Birmingham, AL; two step-daughters, Sherry Bridges and Tammy Bean both of Athens; 13 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Pennington, Dr. Scott Pennington, Jordan Rutherford, John Plunk, Skyler Rutherford and W.S. Pennington III.
