Funeral service for William Robert Newberry, III, PhD., 74, of Hoover will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Blair Congregational Methodist Church, Dr. Lowell Vann officiating with interment in Blair Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state at the church Thursday from 1pm-2pm.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dr. Newberry passed away Sunday, May 11th at Brookwood Medical Center. He was born September 7, 1939 to Willa Ailene Gilpatrick & William Robert Newberry, Jr. He served in the United States Navy and graduated from the University of Alabama with a PhD in Chemistry. Dr. Newberry retired from the United States Department of Energy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Newberry; two sons, William Robert (Lisa) Newberry, IV, Kenneth James (Cheryl) Newberry, Sr.; brother, James Curtis (Tiffany) Newberry; sister, Karen Newberry (Gordon) Gregory; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth N. (Nathan) Coshatt, Kenneth James (Charman) Newberry, Jr, Jennifer N. (Martín) Castre, Anthony Newberry, Stephanie N. Pennington, Joshua Ryan (Joy) Newberry, Celeste N. (Chris) Malloy, William R. Newberry, V, Heather Rose Newberry; nine great-grandchildren, Eris Jade Newberry, Kenneth J. Newberry, III, Kellen J. Newberry, Gerard M. Coshatt, Sabastian Coshatt, Serenity Coshatt, Dominic Coshatt, Ryan L. Castre, Lucas Pennington; and a host of family and friends.
