William Richard “Ricky” Flurry

William Richard “Ricky” Flurry, 77, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 at his home.  He was born in Golden, MS to Richard Freed and Mary Louise Epps Flurry.  He began his career with TVA at the age of nineteen where he retired as Operations Manager after 35 years.  He was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Southaven, MS.  Ricky was a loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was a woodworker, loved to fish and pull pranks on family members and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22, 3 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Daily and Bro. Jimmy Moody officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, 1-3 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.   Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Blunt Flurry; children, Richard B. “Brad” Flurry and Margaret Jane Flurry; grandchildren, Claire Flurry, Jessica Flurry, Ashton Phelps and David Keith Phelps, Jr. (Shelbie); two great-grandchildren, Meika Riley Dodge and Jessie Rae Phelps; aunt, Hilda Flurry Johnson; uncle, Joe Flurry (Sue); brothers-in-law, Phillip Blunt (Barbara) and Mike Blunt (Judy); sister-in-law, Margaret Blunt Hendrix and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janice Moody (J.W.).

Pallbearers will be Tim Blunt, Mark Blunt, Lance Hollingsworth, Jimmy Moody, Austin McGee and Dale Garrett.  His high school classmates will serve as honorary pallbearers.
