William R. Adams (Bill), 89, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, November 16th. Bill was born in Murphy, North Carolina; the son of parents Anna Lee Davis Adams and Ralph W. Adams.

Bill graduated from Murphy High School in 1954 and soon after joined the Air Force to serve his country until honorably discharged in 1957. During his service, he served as an administrative clerk for US forces stationed in France and the United Kingdom. During this time, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service.

After his military service, Bill worked as a Contract Specialist for the US Army on Redstone Arsenal, supporting the HAWK and PATRIOT missile systems for several years until retiring from civil service in 1991.

Outside of work, Bill was an avid outdoorsman and DIY enthusiast with hobbies that included but not limited to hiking in the Smokey Mountains, auto mechanics, wood working, trot line fishing, beach trips, and anything that could justify the use of his tractor.

He is survived by his spouse, Wanda Hardin Adams; children Andra Adams David (Jack), Christopher Adams (Cheryl); grandchildren, Reece and Avrie Adams, Julie and Michael David; brother Thomas Adams (Sue); sister Joanne Frazier, and a host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
