William Neil Hagewood passed from this life on Monday. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Charlotte Miller Hagewood; four children, Melissa (Lavaughn) Davis, Steve (Sheila) Hagewood, Kenny (Gayle) Hagewood, and Jimmy Hagewood; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Paul, Tommy, David, and Douglas.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a faithful servant of God, serving as an Elder for 34 years at the Weatherly Heights church of Christ. He served in the US Navy as an electronic technician, and received a Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech in Electrical Engineering, and a Master’s degree from F.I.T. He retired as an electrical engineering manager from civil service for the US Army after 33 years. He is described by friends as someone who always looked for the good in people, was always concerned for their souls, and had a positive impact on everyone he met.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday at Weatherly Heights church of Christ, with the funeral service to follow at the church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Athens Bible School.
