William Neal Samples, Age 68 of Somerville, Alabama, the West Point Community, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at Shepherd’s Cove – Hospice of Marshall County in Albertville Alabama.
Mr. Samples was born on April 3, 1947 in Lanett Alabama to Hylon Howard Samples and Mary Katie Keenon Samples. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked for Onan Corporation in Huntsville.
He is survived by his son Dan Elkins (Jason); daughters: Jamie L. East (Namon), Julie Blackmon (David); grandchildren: Chaseon East, Ashton East, Hannah Blackmon, Jonathan Elkins (Michelle), Lindsey Elkins; brother: Howard Samples (Terri), brother in law: Grady “Butch” Baswell; sister: Rebecca Scarborough. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hylon Howard Samples & Mary Katie Keenon Samples and his sister, Mary Baswell.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday – March 24, 2016 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel – Morgan City with Dan Elkins officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers will be Andy Baswell, Howie Samples, Mack McElmore, Van Johnson, Rich Leonard and Jimmy Owens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Mashburn and Grady “Butch” Baswell.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday – March 23, 2016 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel.
