Dr. William Max Grisham William Max Grisham, 78, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with stage IV brain cancer. Max lived a life rich in music, service, and family. He found joy and inspiration in the music of Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and the Grateful Dead. In more recent years, he developed a deep appreciation for Celtic melodies. He loved playing his guitar and harmonica, often sharing his passion for music with those around him. A distinguished psychologist and proud veteran of the United States Army, Max dedicated his professional life to helping others. His steady presence, thoughtful wisdom, and compassionate spirit left a lasting impact on many lives. One of Max’s greatest joys was his biannual trip to Mountain View, Arkansas, where he gathered with family to enjoy bluegrass music and create treasured memories together.

He is survived by his children: Robert Max Grisham (Mandy) of Memphis, Tennessee; Taylor Grisham Bland (Jim) of Collierville, Tennessee; Evan Hunter Grisham of Dallas, Texas; and Kelsey Elizabeth Grisham of Bentonville, Arkansas. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Adam and Micah Grisham (children of Robert and Mandy) and James Maddox Bland (son of Taylor and Jim). Max is further survived by his siblings: Staten Grisham of Sherwood, Arkansas; Jack Grisham (Marlene) of Marietta, Georgia; and Patti Dunavent (Thomas) of Hernando, Mississippi; along with a host of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Polly Grisham of Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 South Main Street in Pontotoc, Mississippi, with the funeral at 2:00 p.m.  His son, Robert Grisham will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Pontotoc Memorial Garden, Highway 9 North at Brassfield Road, Pontotoc, Mississippi.
