William M. Alexander, Jr. “Bill”, husband of Bette Lynne Alexander went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025.

Bill was born in Natchez, MS. on June 29, 1937, and grew up in Vicksburg.  He attended and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in accounting.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather-Bill married Emily Hodge in 1958.  His parents, William M. and Roberta Ward Alexander preceded him in death, as did his wife, Emily Hodge Alexander.

Bill is survived by his wife, Bette Lynne Alexander, Florence, AL; daughter, Allyson Martin and her husband, Burt, Houston, TX; son, William Alexander and his wife, Jennifer, Franklin, TN; sister, Gail Buzhardt and her husband, Joe, Bolton, MS; brother, Joel Alexander; granddaughter, Laurel Fitzgerald and husband, Zack, Lexington, TN; grandson, Austin Alexander, Franklin, TN; and nine nieces and nephews.

In 1965, Bill began a 35 year long employment with Reynolds Metals Company at the Alloys Plant in Listerhill.  After having been located at the Reynolds locations in Hurricane Creek, AR, Portland, TX, and Lake Charles, LA, Bill finished his employment and retired as Financial Systems Analyst for the Corporate Office in Richmond, VA. while living in Florence, AL.

Bill was an active member of Highland Baptist Church and active member of all communities of which he lived, serving in multiple capacities.

Bill cherished every moment with his family especially being “Papa” to his grandchildren, Laurel and Austin.

Visitation will be Friday, April 18, 2025, from 11:00-12:00, at Greenview Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel.   Officiating will be Dr. John Brock. A private burial will follow the service in Greenview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of love and sympathy may be given in Bill’s honor to Highland Baptist Church or the Florence Lauderdale Public Library.
